New Town, Kolkata has been declared as a potential Smart City under the Smart Cities Mission, Government of India. To participate in Round-2 of the challenge of the smart city ...
There are free wi-fi services in some of the buses in New Town. More such buses would be great. And it would be awesome if the metro service also have free wi-fi services once they are ready.
Security is a big concern in New Town. More patrol cars especially during nighttime and prompt action from police in any emergency situation is a must.
All the commercial vehicles for internal communications in New Town should ideally be eco-friendly ones like electric cabs, green cabs, electronic rickshaws, etc.
We would love to have a common knowledge sharing platform for New Town, where residents can interact, share ideas and solutions for problems with each other and govt. officials regularly. We only get smarter when we share knowledge.
Basic infrastructures like water and electricity supply lines, sewage lines and others should be monitored and maintained well before problems can creep in. Remember, Smart Cities should be proactive and not reactive.
There are a few designated parking spots in New Town. But we need more of them in the coming days, especially near all public places and office areas.
We need properly made and maintained service roads along with all the major roads in New Town. Clean wide footpaths and subways are also a must.
We need to have a series of good restaurants around the corner and reputed sweet shops can have their branches this side. I think Newtown is deprived of the delicate sweets of North Calcutta!
Shuru toh korcchen eta plan kore... please end of day giye disappoint porbenna. We are looking forward
Newtown sunke ek hi baat dimaag me aata hai. long drive pe chal... chal..
