New Town, Kolkata has been declared as a potential Smart City under the Smart Cities Mission, Government of India. To participate in Round-2 of the challenge of the smart city contest, a Smart City Proposal will be prepared after taking into consideration aspirations, visions, goals and smart solutions (low cost smart solutions, technology based smart solutions etc.) communicated by the citizens of New Town, Kolkata to make it a better place to live. For further details on Smart Cities Mission, citizens may visit the concerned website of Government of India i.e. smartcities.gov.in

Human resources should be properly educated as well as economy & employment should be emphasized by the government authority.
More awareness from the ground level people is expected.

1. poor PUBLIC TOILET facility, NO roadside DRINKING WATER facility
2. No General library - for all
3. In every locality there should place where "Open Air" YOGA, Games, Sob peyechir asor ---- it should connect people with the city
4. NEWTOWN aN ARTIFICIAL city, why not a city of HEART

1. It seems NEWTOWN a city of DESERT, it should be a GREEN city
2. Transport facility should be made to connect a> all the complexes/projects, b> bus stand to complex
3. After 8 pm NEWTOWN becomes unsafe for FEMALE, why it should be SAFE for ALL for 24 hours in the world of IT
4. NEWTOWN a city of rich, it should be a CITY of ALL ( products in the shops should not very so costly)
5. EMERGENCY service is very poor
6. Beautification in the traffic area should not increase unsocial activities

Permanent structures should be removed from the pavements, It should be clean, walkable, pollution free. Law & order should be strictly enforced by the government & smoking should be banned in the public place. Its all about pollution free smart city.

1.All bus stands should have a kiosk with routes and details of timings
2. Maps of Newtown to be displayed at the bus stands -- if possible touch screen facility
3. Taxi stands to be organised for waiting cabs with a facility to call/text a message w/out depending on Uber/ Ola or similar services
4. Increased vigilance through cameras and burglar alarms for safety of residents considering the fact that many people here work late hours
5. Adequate Parking space for vehicles
