Guwahati, the largest city in the entire North East India is the major political, economic and educational nerve center. The city’s strategic location, connectivity and the economic opportunities have accelerated the process of urbanization to make it one of the fastest growing Indian city and has earned it the distinction of being called the “Gateway to the North Eastern Region of the Country”.

Picturesquely located with the mighty Brahmaputra in the North and Hills and Plateau of Meghalaya in the South, the City is a melting pot of culture, ethnicity with a cosmopolitan colour and at the same time retaining a strong backdrop of the indigenous Assamese identity. The universal cross lateral problems connected with urbanization has however surfaced over the years as a result of the exponential growth of the City.

It is in this backdrop that Guwahati, one of the fastest growing Indian City has been selected as one of the 98 Smart Cities across the Country and is now competing in the second stage challenge to earn the distinction of being selected as one of the city to launch the dream Smart City Mission. The Government of Assam and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation requests the participation of the Citizens of the City, the State and the entire North East India to win this race in making Guwahati one of the best City in the Country by evolving a Vision, a citizen centric Smart City Proposal to qualify in the second stage challenge. Citizens are requested to participate in this race to make Guwahati Smart City one of the best city to live by giving their views, suggestions, innovative smart solutions towards creation and development of smart civic infrastructures, creation of safe, sustainable amenities and easing the current deficiencies and inconveniences faced by the residents and citizens. Citizens are requested to participate in the mygov.in platform and send suggestions at the following addresses on or before 30th November, 2015:

River Brahmaputra should be narrowed by erecting walls on both sides to increase velocity which will help de-silting its bed. Also provide enough space for development, urban landscaped areas, encouraging tourism, efficient transportation and reduce artificial flood in the city.
Similarly, Bharalu should be dug, widened and erect pucca walls on both sides to double its carrying capacity of waste/rain water from Guwahati city to river Brahmaputra.

No proper Internet Connectivity. Poor telecom network. BSNL is not able to provide OFC connectivity in Major Business Area of Guwahati. No proper road, transportation, no damping place. Only corruption everywhere.
