With challenges of rapid urbanisation ahead and the promise to conserve the green heritage of “City Beautiful”, Chandigarh Administration is always committed to create a clean and healthy environment for its resident, commuters & tourists. Eco-friendly & sustainable technologies will be focus of city under “Smart City Mission”.

As per the “Rank of Cities on Sanitation 2009-2010” Report (issued by Ministry of Urban Development, GoI) Chandigarh emerged as the cleanest city in India, with a rating of 73.48 points followed by Mysore in the second place with 70.65 points. However the Administration still strives for more better & effective solutions on sanitation and cleanliness which should come directly from its residents. The citizen consultation will give an important insight of the requirements& aspirations of the residents for Sanitation & Cleanliness Plan of Chandigarh.

So, the Chandigarh Administration hereby invites ideas, views, opinion and suggestions from the residents so that the objective of “Smart Sanitation & Cleanliness Solutions” could be achieved.

1>every area should have a park of its own
2>we should see to that there should not be leakage of drainage water on roads, due to this reasons there will be the breeding of mosquitoes and it also effect a lot on the health issues
3>there should be a factory or a center where the garbage of all over that state should be dumped up there and should be classified into bio-degradable waste and non-biodegradable waste we should also see to it that there.

Chandigarh - cleanliness solutions - contd.

1. Rag pickers are the key to success of any waste management drive. They may be organised as a unit

2. Modern Waste management / Bio fertilizer plants may be set up. Existing plant produces foul smell, may be because of faulty technology

3. Collaboration with NGOs / religious bodies will prove productive

4. More mobile toilets - slum areas

5. Public conveniences in all major parks

Chandigarh - cleanliness solutions

1. All the market / industrial / RWAs should take the ownership of the situation. In coordination with the competent authorities, dustbins in sufficient numbers at appropriate places must be ensured.

2. Through awareness campaigns every individual should be motivated to keep the open spaces near their homes / shops / work places clean

3. Existing public conveniences being misused (people sleeping etc).

Chandigarh can lead the country in becoming a role model in swacch bharat abhiyaan. It is a city of literate people with no dearth of government resources. Dustbins should be installed on all the main margs and should be frequently cleaned. The public transport ie CTU buses must be fitted with dust bins and people using them must be rewarded. Children in schools and housing societies must be made aware about the cleanliness
