The population of Chandigarh Urban Complex (CUC) comprising Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula has been growing fast at a rate of over 5% per year in the last decade. There has been a phenomenal growth in the population of vehicles as well especially the two and four wheelers in this period and their rising use due to rising household incomes. Chandigarh has the highest per capita income in the country. Besides nearby towns are also growing fast and have large traffic interaction with the Chandigarh. In the absence of adequate and quality mass transport system, people are using the personalized modes which is not only leading to congestion on road network but also increasing environmental pollution.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed among the Governments of Haryana and Punjab, and Chandigarh Administration for the formation of Greater Chandigarh Transport Corporation (GCTC) on Thursday for developing a comprehensive integrated multi-modal urban and suburban commuting system for the Union Territory and surrounding areas in the states of Haryana and Punjab. Also the administration has been working to develop cycling tracks all over the city.

However the citizen participation is very much required to frame a integrated and detailed urban mobility plan for “City Beautiful”. So, the Chandigarh Administration hereby invites ideas, views, opinion and suggestions from the residents so that the objective of “Smart Urban Solutions” could be achieved.

What I feel is that concept of monorail/sky bus is the best solution. This acquires very less space, cost in comparison to other options. Plus it is a mass commutator. This will not disturb the existing historical places, flora fauna. This can move even in smaller streets with less width. The journey is comfortable and will be much cheaper. Efforts can be made for rails on solar energy. Though this is not adequate but definitely will be a big step towards carbon free city

Like to draw attention of government towards poor public transports in PUNE. most of people use personal transport like scooters, bikes, cars which increases pollution and traffic. there are dedicated lines for buses but they are unused, not enough buses not enough staff, not punctual in time. central gov should help PMPML if there is problem with funds and resource, pune transport can be fixed just need proper management.

MyGov, Transportation System plays important role in development of any City. And time management is the key feature to manage crowd. Its not only important for Chandigarh but also for every city. Launch of Delhi Metro has got lots of Wah Wahi but no one thoughts of managing them online thru application for public usage and make it most usable. If someone is really reading these block, they must learn from Sydney Transport System. How well and effectively they are managing

People often end up using personal vehicles, because they are unaware of the schedules, frequency and opportunities in public transport. GCTC should building app which integrates onto Google Maps API. User should be pin-point his destination and the app should give him multiple options in public transport of taking him to his destination. This would enable the user to make a conscious and informed decision about taking public transport. #Chandigarh, #UT, #UrbanMobility, #Transport, #MyGov

For small cities like Chandigarh skybus system is necessary which is not only economical than metro or monorail cost but also requires less space, low ticket prices, pillars can be convertible to road if necessary, also eco-tourism park along with exotic flora fauna adventure can lead economic activities and also save local ecological balance,

government should build cooperatively with private sectors apartments but every building number of apartment should go to 50-100. so they should increase number of floor. this will condense the population and people will not to travel long for there work and in downtown more shuttle buses should run. But making building big does not mean compromise with safety but should build strong building like American do.

1. Introduce Metro trains 2. Increase AC buses and standardise the type of buses as prtc and Haryana roadways are using old models for city buses which pollute more. 3. Make CNG compulsory. 4. Use E-rickshaw within the sector limits. Give them for free to RWAs to operate them by increasing the registration fee of petrol and diesel vehicles which is very low than the neighbouring states 5. Encourage Car pooling 6. Make certain areas CAR FREE ZONEs. #Chandigarh #UT #urbanmobility #transport
