Solapur has been shortlisted by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 cities to participate in the Stage II of the selection process i.e. the “Smart City Challenge”. Solapur Municipal Corporation would be submitting a Smart City Proposal (SCP) for Solapur for competing with the other cities in the Smart City Challenge and wants the citizen of Solapur to participate in preparation of the Smart City proposal. The citizen may post their views on how the services being provided by the Solapur Municipal Corporation can be improved which will benefit all sections of the society i.e. the rich and the poor should benefit from the solution being provided.

In order to guide the preparation of the Smart City Proposal it is essential that a good vision for Solapur to become a Smart City is carved out keeping the needs of the residents of Solapur at an utmost priority. The vision should emerge from the needs, aspiration and wishes of the citizen to improve quality of life in the city.

Thus, Solapur Municipal Corporation hereby invites the citizens of Solapur to share their views on ‘Vision for Smart Solapur’ in the “Task” section. This exercise aims to integrate the needs of the residents of Solapur and increase public participation in planning and development of Solapur as a Smart City. Also, in the discussion section the resident may share their suggestions on development of Solapur as a Smart City. The suggestions may include various smart solutions for urban services such as water supply, sewerage management, solid waste management, rain water harvesting, etc.

The last date to submit your comments is 4th December, 2015.

1.Increase green belt in road divider and maintainance of greenary is very important.
2.Control of street dog by muncipal corporation is very crucial.
3.Children amusement park in city.

One thing we all need to understand is this is kind of mission in which inputs of all of citizens is must and it's not only solapur corporation's task!!!
It's for us and by us!!

Definitely a city will be developed only if its infrastructure or basic needs are fulfilled!!! But now we are talking about a SMART CITY that too at national level... So along with basic needs we need to take measures in order to make our city smart in all aspect, say regarding technology , or making our city's atmosphere free from dust and breathable, from economic, social aspects.We citizens should also become smart, responsible,enthusiastic as far as city's progress is concerned.

सोलापूर शहर हे एक पर्यटन शहर असून या शहराला स्‍मार्ट बनण्‍यासाठी खुप वाव अाहे. तरी त्‍यासाठी सर्वप्रथम झाेपडपटटी सुधारणा योजना राबवावी उदा. झोपडीधारकांना स्‍वतःहाची घरे अल्‍प दरात उपलब्‍ध व्‍हावी व त्‍यात नवीन नगर वसवून अाधुनिक रितीच्‍या सुविधा देणे हा स्‍मार्ट सीटीचा मुळ पाया आहे. हे जर अंमलात आले तर स्‍वच्‍छता, विज, पाणी, रस्‍ते, पर्यावरण, व आरोग्‍य या सर्व गोष्‍टींची सुविधा आपोआप होत जाईल.

Government of India has given ample amount of opportunity for cities to transform themselves. Solapur being one of the shortlisted cities in the Smart Cities Mission is an opportunity for citizen of Solapur to participate in its transformation process. Since convergence of schemes is essential, the city administration should addressing the issues of city through each of the development and governance issues of the city. For example, issue of SWM can be addressed under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

In my opinion smart city is that which listen to its citizens. For solapur there must be water distribution zones with water meters and Scada system.In solapur solid waste management should b on decentralised basis. Solar panel on all govt buildings. Sewage treatment plants n tertiory treatment plant for recycling of water. Solapur should become d textile hub in future for that there must b infrastructure development. Tourism development n medical hub.
