A public sector organisation should not only be judged by comparing with balance sheet figures by its private counterparts, rather there should be holistic approach and view in judgment. There should be proper support system from administration to avoid unethical social pressure in operation, lending and recovery. A satisfied and enthusiastic employee can deliver effective and efficient work which will definitely improve the performance.

1. Even though bank tech has improved strength of staff should not be compromised. Single staff handling multiple dept. has to be reduced. 2. Frequent transfer of officer for every 3 years is a blunder mistake of bank transfer policy. To be reviewed. 3 Posting of BMs of branch should be within the district, but the present status is an officer from north is posted as BM in south states who are unable to communicate to customers. If all this is taken care then performance of Banks may improve.

Publc relation is important to improve performance. Public sector bank asks for maximum formalty like supporting documents, and other way having huge NPA. Action for recovery are not taken on timely basis. Villegers can not easily open accounts. Nowdays online applications are accepted for opening account. Many villegers approached me for filling online forms. If there is no proper public dealing, one day will come when private banks will capture great market, if they reduce charges in future.

1. Make it a crime to be a defaulter you may use the recommendations of Raghuram Rajan its without any ambiguity.
2. All the loan waivers to stop as the create unnecessary burden on the banking system
3 Proper manpower at the branches staff to customer ratio is very skewed at times more than 4000 customers/staff
4. Alternate channels like ATM's to be made free with mini branches within ATM can create a lots of value.
5. Transaction costs to be reduced by creating a min. tran value.

One of the main functions of a bank is to lend money to public and organizations. But unfortunately field level bank officers are afraid of giving loans. No officer is interested to give an un-secured loans where the borrower is a poor fellow aspiring to establish his own small business or to gain some higher education. The reason behind such attitude of officers is the fear of loan being NPA when no excuses will be listened by his bosses and he will be held guity.

performance of PSBs are much better than Private banks if we compare the Business/employee ratio.

Profit/employee is comparatively low due to two factors

1. Organised employment unlike outsourced unorganised draconian employment by private banks.

2. Corporate defaulters like Kingfisher etc..

1st factor increases the Denominator. 2nd factor decreases the Numerator.

The 2nd factor is the major bottleneck as it is lakhs of crores.

Comparision of Profit/employee is a ill conceived one as most of the private banks outsource most of their labour intensive works. If they include the number of outsourced employees with their own employees then the original efficiency can be measured
