Ideas and suggestions are welcome on how to use various Nano Technology devices for betterment of the society. The suggestions may include solutions for different social sectors. ...
The sixth and top priority should be develop and nurture a national Health Information Network which is inter-operable with state health system. This may improve referral network, logistics procurement system, accountability, information portability, storage of health records and governance improvement and management.
The fifth priority has to be improving basic and higher medical, nursing, dental and India system of medicine education and research system. The basic and higher education system should be strictly regulated to improve the quality, strengthen accreditation system and improve standard protocols in clinical practice as well as in administrative systems.
The fourth and important priority must be clearly layout health policy road map for the country and refine it at least every two years. Health regulatory system should be strengthened to improve the quality of hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials, drugs (spurious) and diagnostics.
The timing of service provision in public sector in URBAN areas has to be re-defined such that maximum numbers of people get benefit from public health sector services. At the same time attention has to be paid to vulnerable and difficult to reach population and all these points be kept in the back of health planning division.
Third priority should be provision of all diagnostic and essential medicines available not only at public sector hospitals but stand alone in physically accessible locations in all big and small towns in lines of private sector. This enables the public to access services at their convenience.
Develop improved management of all of these human resources and involve better retention through incentives, improved recruitment practices, cadre review and creation of well-defined career tracks.
Country like India can easily identify couple of hundreds such blend of knowledge and experienced people to head health departments and bring changes. Increase specialist into district and sub district hospitals by offering post graduate seats to in-service candidates, explore option of Diplomate National Board (DNB) courses at district hospitals along with increase in staff nurses size.
Just technical knowledge (medical knowledge) alone or general administration (Indian Administrative service) knowledge alone will never revamp our health system for decades to come. We need to think out of the box and replace with current only medical knowledge or only administrative knowledge people to who have public health trained knowledge coupled with administrative acumen.
Second priority could be, improving man power by incentivizing, rewarding, increasing facilities, develop livable conditions as well as administrative reforms. Administrative reforms must include appointment at highest level that have technical competency (health care knowledge) + management expertise (management training/health policy training).
Invest on information technology to improve health information system and decision processes. If higher GDP allocation on health is diverted for private sector service provision (in the name of health insurance) then it is NOT going to be a sustainable model.
