we have the world's largest railway network. we can make use of it to make so much money. e.g.- we can put advertising on the train inside and outside. and get money from the advertising company. we can do it for buses also. and make lots of money. and that money can be used for better railway and bus service.

The govt should make it compulsory to mention the id proof no on the reservation ticket, it can anything uid or pan card, this would stop the brocker and encourage the people to make their uid or pan card. Second the railway should take strict action for the people who travel without ticket and the TT who take the bribe and make them travel, the TT should check the general coaches also becz most no of people travel without ticket in the general coaches.

General coaches should not exist on long distance trains. All seats must be reserved tickets. This will prevent general public rushing into reserved coaches and standing on doors with luggage.

NRIs or foreign tourists should be able to use their email id for purchasing tickets, rather than mobile no. This would make travel planning easier and they won't have to depend in agents who would charge more from them.

All tickets should be booked online or on computerised devices at the ticket counters. Ticket counters should be big windows and should accept debit card payments, so that the system is cashless.

The Ticket checking system should undergo a 180 deg change. Instead of checking the tickets at the time of exit, tickets should be checked at the time of entry to the station. Luggage should be weighed properly. This will need minimal increment in inpu/infrastructure cost but the benefits will be much more including restricting unauthorised entry to the station. In case of any terrorist attack or other major calamity at least there will be a database to know who all were there.

A TO B TO C travel by a person got confirmed ticket .Distance from b to c is 5 km .Another person want to travel from b to d .he will get only waiting list .distance between b to d is 2000 km. what happens is ticketing examiner gives confirm ticket to the person who is travelling from b to d .He recieves 500 + rupees( bribe) to get the ticket confirmed. so do something to make automatic confirmation of the waiting list while the train is running .
