Each railway station should have code scanner at entry and exit. The unnecessary people ( Like relatives for pick up) should be charged for platform ticket. Platform ticket should available online. The railway station must be free from illegal people ( like beggar, illegal vendors). There should be unique uniform and licence for vendors and supporting staff. And compulsory fine for making station dirty. Before digitalization, there should be necessity to be safe and clean station.
instead of use the reservation chart board by paper it can be computerized by the use of led display to display the reservation charts on the particular platform and also the use of display on the coaches display the names of the reservants into a that particular coaches instead of pasting the paper printed sheets. This can lead to a clean look of coaches atleast from outside.
Tc should provide digital receipts. May times they have duplicate receipt book. Same is the case with traffic police
Put in led display boards into the trains. to describe the various content into the train. Like indicating the next railway station and then the menu of catering services . availability of the seats.
Reservation quota for all the trains station wise should be made available to citizens. Waitlist ticket confirmation chances should also be made available. Auto cancellation charges should not be applicable as it is unethical to charge for which the citizen has not availed the services. Signalling system should be improved to increase the frequency of trains esp for routes where traffic is heavy. Weekends special trains should be introduced.
Booking tatkal ticket is a big problem faced by all of us, recently irctc site has been working great. But with AJAX technology we can improve it further. With AJAX we can show how many tickets are still available to user. just like live tv. I can write a program for the same. If you are interested let me know.
I would like to request you to provide railway route from Tamkuhi Road Station to direct Bettiah Station which is pending from last many years which can attract Budhist tourist links Kushinagar to Nepal
Paint railways boggies with govt. advertisement or private advertisement. This will improve life span of train body.
Tickets can be issued online and the same can be sent on mobile through SMS with the name of the commuter printed on the ticket. This will not only save paper but also the time of the commuter .
Further to my previous post; IRCTC website & IRCTC connect must be integrated to show all bookings and updates. Make all railway services like food, wheel chair access, coolie, railway police, medical help, feedback and customer care available through IRCTC connect app. Enabling free Wifi on all trains will enhance safety. Even integrating India rail info with IRCTC app would be great. Add an option to include mobile # of an escort. Train status can be sent directly to the escort before arrival.
