Train enquiry system operating at present is quite good. The response time should be improved by using better software and faster Hardware so that more people can get quick response using various devices including mobile.
Indian Railways could be made to focus on intercity trains only. The suburban railway connection such as the one in Mumbai, Chennai & the metro in Kolkata must be integrated with the local urban transport network. This would enable railways to focus rather than being everything for everybody.
Some technology must be used to run our trains timely even in foggy weather……
More efforts are needed towards solving the problem of delay status of trains, and cleanliness of trains and platforms along with development of bullet trains…
isme sudhar ki ko e necessity nahi hai because bahut se APP hain jo ye kam aassan banate hai.
Railway need to spread awareness of various website they have created for dispersing information like http://enquiry.indianrail.gov.in/ntes/ and similar app that exist for tracking the running train status. etc some time the data is wrong majority of the time, the information is more or less are good.
Indian railway has a great number of website for providing various information. It is high time a single entry site or page is created to disperse the information. The SMS facility to retrieve the information (and more and more services should be available through sms) should be advertised in all the channels and by the telecom provider, so that more and more people explore that option to gather information.
All trains should have gps installed and an App should be made across all platforms of smartphones which will enable the passengers to track the location of the train
This should be an Mobile APP based system like the SBS transit APP for Singapore Metro, where train delays are even sent by SMS or train running status can be checked on an mobile App

There should be an Enquiry counter in every platform. This should be managed by Senior people as volunteers. They should have a four hour duty. They should be selected, trained and engaged with respect. As an incentive, you should give "free travel one train journey with reservation" every month.They should be uniformed. This should be deployed in important towns.
