The expansion of banking and reach of financial services is considered to be vital for the long-term sustainable development of any country. From the standpoint of equity, it is essential that financial services are provided at an affordable cost to those who are presently excluded from the formal financial system. Mobile telephony could be the answer to the problems related to ‘last mile’ service delivery of financial services.

In order to identify and address the various issues for the use of USSD-based Mobile Financial Services, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released Consultation Paper on ‘Review of regulatory framework for the use of USSD for mobile financial services’ on 2nd August, 2016 for comments.

The objective of this Consultation Paper (CP) is to examine the need of mobile based financial services in the country from a public perspective, discuss the issues in its proliferation and to explore solutions for the same.

The Authority has extended the time for submission of comments upto 14th September, 2016 and counter comments by 28th September, 2016.

TRAI must check the TELECOM SERVICE PROVIDERS 1.fraudulence in collecting money from customers through various means, 2.frequent call interruptions, 3.In the name of enhancing the speed of the internet the Service providers tap more charges from customers, 4.if the internet pack is exhausted, the Telecom companies stealthy deduct the internet charges from the main top up account and cheat the customers. 5.Spreading VIRUS through Ads and also through unscrupulous Anti virus packs .

STOP TELECOM SERVICE PROVIDER TO FORCEFULLY ADVERTISE THEIR PRODUCT WHEN WE DIAL A NUMBER DND service is to help customer so that he/she is not disturbed by so many advertisement/irrelevant messages from telecom service provider. Now, When we dial a number for calling, the telecom companies forces us to listen to their advertisement (example, For X telecom service provider if you pay for K amount, you will get N free calls). TRAI must include such forceful advertisement under DND.

I had suggested that Mobile User should be given an option in Mobile Inbox of SMS to “REJECT” Unsolicited SMSs. And this will automatically block Receiver’s Mobile Number both in Sender’s list as well as sender’s Number in Mobile User’s phone.

At present we get unsolicited Business SMS from Telemarketing Agencies although we are not registered with them. The point I emphasise is there is large scale Data Theft from Mobile Directories- ATM-Credit-Debit Card Data for which there is no surveillance or control of Government. Mobile user is asked to go through a tedious complaint procedure by TRAI & Telecos each time we receive SMS

Nowadays there are some fake broadband companies who are making money by false advertisement, their agents make contacts with people showing demo and collect money. They have also cheated me and my neighbour. Strict action is needed against such companies.
