Companies like VFS that are outsourced service providers of consular services should be taught some basic courtesy skills. Have them trained in other country embassies. See how other countries treat their citizens in their embassies. Indian High commissions treat Indian citizens in foreign countries like stray animals. You can see their digust just on their faces when anyone goes into the embassy for any service

I posted messages on the FB page of the Indian High Commission. Canberra, to let them know that their staff should be taught basic telephone etiquette. When I ring the High Commission, I hear a tired and bored voice saying simply 'hello...' and waiting for me to respond. Why can't she/he say something like 'namaskar...High Commission of India, how may I help you...' and then show some patience in listening to my query and providing a courteous reply. Instead she shows an evident annoyance...

PLease ask to change the attitude of consulate people that they are privileged people. They need to contact directly to Indians and foreigners to get their experience. To do that right training and awareness needs to be created before they are posted in foreign office.

Indian embassies in US never answer phone or reply to e-mails (that was the situation last year). They need to respond and provide information. Indian Passport renewal takes 3- 4 months for renewal. Passport renewal, visa etc. should not take more than a month. Indian embassies need to update information regarding visas, PIO card, OCI card on their website regularly. Indian embassies should also consider publishing monthly e-newsletter updating NRIs on current foreign affairs related information

Clean all Consulates & Embassies - rid of clutter & files in hallways.
Make all Mission websites & forms across the world consistent - with country/state specific details in unique sections.
Make missions welcoming & staff well dressed. Missions should represent modern India; well lit & shiny.
No mission officers who cannot speak English & language of country where located.
All services made digital;Get rid of sloppy & misprinted forms.
