As announced in the Union Budget 2026–27 (Para 62), Government of India will support States, through challenge route, in creating 5 University Townships in the vicinity of major industrial and logistic corridors. These planned academic zones will host multiple universities, colleges, research institutions, skill centres and residential complexes.
The University Township public consultation is a nationwide survey by the Ministry of Education, in partnership with MyGov, inviting students, parents, teachers, and citizens across India to share their perspectives, aspirations, and ideas on shaping these townships.
