Established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation on 15th January 2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting and scientific forecasting of weather phenomenon in the Indian subcontinent. In a way, the evolution of meteorology as a stream of modern physical science owes a lot to the contributions made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious one hundred and fifty years of journey.
To commemorate our remarkable 150-year journey of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, we proudly announce IMD’s Slogan Contest in collaboration with MyGov, offering a platform for young minds to unleash their creativity and articulate the vital contributions of the India Meteorological Department to the nation.
This initiative encourages participants to reflect on IMD’s role in weather forecasting, disaster management, and climate awareness, fostering a deeper connection with its mission while promoting innovative expressions that resonate with a wider audience.
