There should no country-based restrictions on eligibility for PIO cards for spouses of Indian citizens. If national security is a concern, a simple background check should be sufficient. Current policy of not giving PIO cards to spouses from neighbouring countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Iran - is discriminatory. In the interim, entry visas granted to spouses from these countries should not restrict employment.

Work on allowing Indian citizens living abroad to vote in elections through an absentee ballot serviced by Indian embassies abroad. In addition develop programs to allow Indians living abroad to participate in policy initiatives and social development projects through the closest Indian embassy.

At moment I am staying in QATAR. This country almost follow international standard for all goverment service. Like motor insurance, visa service etc.. All service are well maintained at all the place. Clean, within time limit, token type, professional environment. I am indian and I proud to be an Indian. I want that all the government department should come forward with local people and and respect should be there. We need to change immigration people's behaviour. Give respect to Indians .

Advertise/ provide info of OCI/PIO application at Indian institutions like temples/ Indian Banks in overseas countries. Educate few NRIs via Embassy so they can provide free advice on PIO/OCI issues. Start issuing credit card styled OCI/PIOs to reduce paper usage. Start accepting online application for all PIO/OCI applications. Start providing appointments online to avoid massive queues outside embassies. Make applications simpler, faster and easier for children under the age of 5.

Implement dedicated queues for Indian nationals at Indian airports for immigration. Its not fair that we have to wait longer in common queues with foreigners in our own country. Countries like US and UK has dedicated queues for their own nationals which are cleared out faster. An immigration officer is the first person you meet when you return to India. At minimum, they should come across as less harassing and more welcoming. A simple smile and 'Welcome back home' makes a world of difference

1. Implement an online system to book appointments at Indian embassies and check delivery status of service applied for. 2. Implement performance metrics to track how embassy officials work - time taken to answer phones, then to resolve an issue, time to process an application and then to deliver the item. There should also be a customer service score and feedback system to rate the official and service provided by the embassy. 3. Do away with OCI/PIOs and implement dual nationality.

Please make all the airport, railways, bus-stations tout free. It is very embarrassing for a citizen to land in India and from the airport itself people starts cheating from porters all the way to taxi fellows. As you come out from the airport people starts shouting 'sir taxi' which is extremely irritating. At times it appears as if there is no system in India every work gets done from the middlemen only. Our custom officers are no saint and it adds up to the frustration. Best Regards
