Industry-academia interaction: Encourage government funding predominantly for projects jointly proposed by academia and industry. Build a necessity for academia and industry to work together. The research park established with IIT Madras is a good step in this direction. Several such research parks are necessary across India for this to happen. Not many Indian industries fund Indian academia (they have not felt a need for in-house development yet), looking towards west for everything must stop.

Encouraging entrepreunership: It is easier to encourage entrepreneurship in IITs. The students of IITs are in general confident, have highest level of exposure and ready to take challenges. Encourage entrepreunership in IITs. Establish very strong entrepreunership centres in all IITs on similar lines what we see in MIT or Harvard. Based on the success that we see in IITs, the same came be implemented in rest of the engineering colleges.
