Digital India Program
Digital India, a flagship program of the Government of India, aims to “transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”, the focus is on being transformative to realise IT (Indian Talent) + IT (Information Technology) = IT (India Tomorrow). This program centres on three key vision areas of “Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen”, “Governance and Services on Demand” and “Digital Empowerment of Citizens”. This is an initiative of the Government of India to integrate the government departments and the people of India.
Vision of Digital India Week
To formally launch the Program, a one week program in the coming months comprising of awareness and communication events will be ear-marked as the Digital India Week to
• Effectively deliver the message of Digital India
• Expand visibility of Digital India by way of effective branding across various platforms with special focus on new media and public interface touch points.
• To establish credibility of message by ensuring value proposition in terms of demonstration of service delivery to citizens by converging existing and new services, usage of digital infrastructure under Digital India
• Sustained connection with people by identifying and engaging serious stakeholders through ICT platform and increasing the demand for e-services.
• Communication in vernacular languages as far as possible
Digital India Week Objectives
• Inform, educate and engage with citizens through organization of events at large number of Digital Points of Presence such as CSCs/ Post Offices, Schools, Gram Panchayats etc
• Connect all netizens through Digital Media campaigns and events
• Inform all about the vision, services and benefits of the Program
• Popularise and expand the reach of existing e-services, plan and launch new services
• Educate citizens on functional digital literacy, cyber security, cyber hygiene, ensure better utilization of Digital infrastructure during the DI Week and beyond
• Incentivize, motivate and connect citizens with the Digital India Program.
Proposed Activities for Digital India Week: During the Digital India Week, it is planned to conduct activities at different levels starting from the village level, block, municipality, sub-division, district, state and national level to make people in general and all levels of government in particular to communicate the transformative impact of the Digital India programme. In rural areas the Common Service Centres (CSCs) are proposed to be activity points. There is no counterpart of CCSs in urban areas.
The Department of Electronics & IT invites entries from interested participants to suggest ideas on the following :-
(i) Specific activities for engaging digitally and physically with urban population for the Digital India Week
a. What should be the definite activities
i. Physical
ii. Social Media Activities- for eg: campaign, online contests, video contest, trivia etc
b. Identify locations for urban audience to conduct activities
c. Define target audience within urban population (in addition to youth- students from schools & colleges etc)
d. Define additional activities to be conducted within the field of Social Media to engage urban population
e. Which services should one communicate about to urban population
(ii) Motivation system: Incentive for engaging urban population, preferably non-monetary
The need of the hour is to spread awareness about the Digital India Program, to engage different audience effectively, and help them understand what this Program will do for the citizen and help him/her connect with Digital India. The suggested entries should be practicable and easy to conduct.
The last date for submission is 5th May, 2015.
The winner will be awarded a cash prize as under:
1. First Prize - Rs. 10,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 5000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 2000/-
