The National Archives of India is the repository of the non-current records of the Government of India and is holding them in trust for the use of administrators and scholars. It is an Attached Office of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

It was set up on 11 March 1891 in Calcutta (Kolkata) as the Imperial Record Department. With the subsequent transfer of the National Capital from Calcutta to New Delhi in 1911, it was shifted to its present building at the crossing of Janpath and Rajpathin 1926.

As the nodal agency for the implementation of the Public Records Act,1993 and Public Record Rules, 1997, the National Archives of India is responsible for streamlining the management of records of central government and public sector undertakings.

In addition to the public records, the National Archives of India also has a large collection of Private Archives of eminent personalities of India.

This contest (https://mygov.in/task/design-emblem-and-create-tagline-national-archives...) was organized on the portal from 13-27 February 2015 but suitable entry could not be finalized. Hence, entries are again invited.

Indian Citizens are invited to design/suggest a suitable Emblem along with a motto to create awareness for the preservation of archival heritage of the Nation for the posterity.

The last date of submission is 15th August 2015.

The selected entry will be awarded a prize of Rs. 50,000/-.

The Book Denotes the History and the vedas puranas holy books and all the archives of the country standing proudly in centre of the book and the colors of the pages denote the nationality which means "Preserving the Past"...........

Motto: “Long-standing indemnity”
Emblem: this emblem contains motto “Long-standing indemnity”, Sh. Mahatma Gandhi and other symbol used in this emblem show the variety of information that department hold to help in spreading a feeling of national pride in our country.

Sir,I have designed the following emblem and the motto for the National Archives.

The significance of the emblem is as follows:

The initials n,a of the 'National Archives can be seen in the emblem.
The Ashok Chakra represents truth and righteousness in the functionality.
The flame represents conservation.
The emblem as a whole represents the colors of Indian tricolor or the motherland India as a whole.
The motto '|राष्ट्रासंवर्धन में जारी|' means ,'On duty of National Development'.

BARCODE designed vertically with indian flag colors gives it unique and simple look showing streamlining of records with usage of technology.National Archives of India written on right on page of open book, "i" stands for information hence it has been made as tall single alphabet.
MOTTO- GYANAM SAMVARDHANAM[preserving knowledge/information]shows efforts to create awareness for the preservation of archival heritage of the Nation.
