The National Archives of India is the repository of the non-current records of the Government of India and is holding them in trust for the use of administrators and scholars. It is an Attached Office of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It was set up on 11 March 1891 in Calcutta (Kolkata) as the Imperial Record Department. With the subsequent transfer of the National Capital from Calcutta to New Delhi in 1911, it was shifted to its present building at the crossing of Janpath and Rajpathin 1926.
As the nodal agency for the implementation of the Public Records Act,1993 and Public Record Rules, 1997, the National Archives of India is responsible for streamlining the management of records of central government and public sector undertakings.
In addition to the public records, the National Archives of India also has a large collection of Private Archives of eminent personalities of India.

This contest (https://mygov.in/task/design-emblem-and-create-tagline-national-archives...) was organized on the portal from 13-27 February 2015 but suitable entry could not be finalized. Hence, entries are again invited.
Indian Citizens are invited to design/suggest a suitable Emblem along with a motto to create awareness for the preservation of archival heritage of the Nation for the posterity.
The last date of submission is 15th August 2015.
The selected entry will be awarded a prize of Rs. 50,000/-.

Design an Emblem and Create a Motto for National Archives of India
This logo is based on ancient coin of Indus civilization. NAI Calligraphy is a based on SINDHU Script. It Clearly Shows our worlds ancient civilization National Archives of India is not limited with only India but it's more wider from nation boundaries. The Indus culture is our true identity. The TRI colours in triangular forms is contemporary. The motto convey massage for future Generation.

It's a journey of ancient civilization. It's journey of freedom movement. The try colours shows us path, turns & progress. Archives is a book of historical evidence.

भारत सरकार के असामयिक अभिलेखो का भंडारगृह है , इसमे लोक अभिलेख व प्रसिद्ध व्यक्तियो के निजी दस्तावेज तथा पुरातन अभिलेख है इसलिए पुरातन भारत के स्वरूप को दिखाने के लिए अखण्ड भारत का चित्र प्रस्तुत किया गया है तथा "अखण्ड भारत का शिलालेख" एक उपयुक्त वाक्यांश दिया गया है ।अखण्ड भारत के चित्र के चारो तरफ पुस्तक पढते बालक को दर्शाया गया है जिससे प्रतित होता है कि वह अखण्ड भारत का अध्ययन कर रहे है।
