The Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) is proposing a national programme to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The vision of Digital India is centred on three key areas, namely by providing digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, providing governance & services on demand and digital empowerment of citizens. This task seeks inputs to design a Logo for Digital India initiative. The last date of submission is 1st September 2014. The winning entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

Zero was something that was given by India to the world that led to the current digitization.This identity of India must be carried out in the identity of Digital India programme. Also it will empower Indian society digitally, which will led to the more inclusive, democratic and participatory growth of the nation.

Digital India: The rising hand
(The tricolor forms the letter 'D' and the blue strip forms the letter 'I';
0 and 1 denotes digital, 0 encircling 1 denotes zeroing in on no.1;
the logo forms a hand with index finger pointed upward, meaning the challenge to be the no.1 and the quest for it;
the tricolor flag is circular meaning the whole of India needs to be involved.
