In India, historically, we have had different phone numbers to call police, fire and ambulance services namely 100, 102, 103 and other numbers for different kinds of emergency. It was realised that all emergency services should be converted into single emergency response system. The need was felt to bridge the gap between the police forces and citizens in the hour of emergency.
In lieu of the above, Ministry of Home Affairs designed “Nationwide Emergency Response System (NERS)” to cater to the growing demand for single emergency number across the country. The Department of Telecommunications has allotted the emergency number ‘112’ for this project. It is a centralized system with the IT infrastructure hosted on central cloud services. This system connects with the state level Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). A PSAP facility will run 24 hours a day, dispatching emergency services as required. Trained agents would be responsible for dispatching the emergency services.
The system is envisaged to take inputs from various sources such as mobile phone calls, landline calls, SMS, email, chat messenger, panic buttons in public transport, voice over IP, mobile application and internet of things devices. As soon as the input message is received in the NERS system, it would be attended and GIS/ GPS enabled vehicles would be dispatched. It’s a state of art system which would track the case till its closure by the emergency vehicle. The emergency would initially include police services for responding to the calls made by women in distress and later would be extended to medical, fire, disaster management and other such emergency services. Once fully implemented, any citizen calling for any emergency service across the country would connect with 112 and would get attended by the emergency responders.
The system aims to reduce the emergency turnaround time, provide single emergency number, provide efficient services to the citizen in distress, provide counselling to citizens and track the case closure. The system will benefit all citizens and provide safer environment in the country.

my logos of the NERS
I have used the colour in NRS to reflect prosperity and red for emergency in the alphabet E. With the fast and swift response of our government, symbolised by the swift bird I show that the red of emergency is quickly transitioned back to colours of peace.
This logo is designed keeping in mind the literate and illiterate populous in India and abroad.
1.It is a circular logo, its outer 3 circles represent all possible emergency situations handled under a single emergency response number 112 highlighted in red.
The 3 outer circles are colored in order saffron, white and green respectively, representing India.
2.The green arrows symbolizes the quick response by NERS hence instant support for the victim and a literal representation of rotary dial.
I designed the logo for NERS stating 'Nationwide Emergency Response System' along with it's abbreviations. The font used is impact, to give it as much focus as possible. The text is in white while the background is red, to again, grab the viewer's attention and the red symbolizing emergency. In the letter E, I have added the medical cross, that stands out and symbolizes doctors' help.
Also added the flame and the siren in the alphabets N and S respectively, to symbolize fire and police help.
The NERS logo design is based on the function and objective of Nationwide Emergency Response System. The NERS logo is fully pictographic and informative. Simple Visual treatment is helpful for a normal person to understand the system of NERS- Nationwide Emergency Response System.
The composition of logo design is symmetrical. It is relevant to the activity of Central Cloud Service with Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
Digital Circuit/ Track. It is symbolizing term IT Infrastructure
Call karo aur Jan bhachavo
As Nationwide emergency response system will be a fully integrated form of helpline represented by 112, the logo i have submitted, shows this in a simple format. the NERS 112 and a lifeline symbol are entwined together to form the logo. the lifeline symbol showing 'N'of NERS notifies people about help, where 112 is the number to call, for NERS to respond. This can be used in papers, online or on mobiles and wil have clear legibility as it is simple and clean design #NERS #MyGov #LogoDesign
