In India, historically, we have had different phone numbers to call police, fire and ambulance services namely 100, 102, 103 and other numbers for different kinds of emergency. It was realised that all emergency services should be converted into single emergency response system. The need was felt to bridge the gap between the police forces and citizens in the hour of emergency.

In lieu of the above, Ministry of Home Affairs designed “Nationwide Emergency Response System (NERS)” to cater to the growing demand for single emergency number across the country. The Department of Telecommunications has allotted the emergency number ‘112’ for this project. It is a centralized system with the IT infrastructure hosted on central cloud services. This system connects with the state level Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). A PSAP facility will run 24 hours a day, dispatching emergency services as required. Trained agents would be responsible for dispatching the emergency services.

The system is envisaged to take inputs from various sources such as mobile phone calls, landline calls, SMS, email, chat messenger, panic buttons in public transport, voice over IP, mobile application and internet of things devices. As soon as the input message is received in the NERS system, it would be attended and GIS/ GPS enabled vehicles would be dispatched. It’s a state of art system which would track the case till its closure by the emergency vehicle. The emergency would initially include police services for responding to the calls made by women in distress and later would be extended to medical, fire, disaster management and other such emergency services. Once fully implemented, any citizen calling for any emergency service across the country would connect with 112 and would get attended by the emergency responders.

The system aims to reduce the emergency turnaround time, provide single emergency number, provide efficient services to the citizen in distress, provide counselling to citizens and track the case closure. The system will benefit all citizens and provide safer environment in the country.

Citizens of India are invited to design a suitable logo for Nationwide Emergency Response System.

Cash Prize for winning logo is Rs. 1 lakh.

Last Date for submission is 31st August, 2015.

Respected Sir/Madam, I have designed a logo for Nationalwide Emergency Response System. I have integrated three major emergencies: Fire service, Ambulance and Police. Hence, diving our tri-colour Indian flag into the tree most commonly used emergency number. Which is now replaced by 112 instead of separate numbers per emergency. #HomeAffairs #NationwideEmergencyResponseSystem #NERS #MyGov

From the ancient era bell is used for public awareness, alertness & emergency call. Here a symbol of bell along with 112 reflects need, help & evoke from caller. Along with this logo strongly shows responsible attitude. Ambulance & Police vehicle flashing light (Beacons) is showing alertness, service, network. The simplicity of this logo will carry all aspects. Any person, will easily draw this. Also it's speechless communication.

Saffron is on top of our national flag so I have used it in my logo. The name of the system is given in the ring adjacent to outer ring (NERS). The ring adjacent to the NERS has the images of all the three systems which are to be integrated into one on top of which lays our national emblem. The two hands represent the single system NERS which going to hold . the people whoare all in desperate need of anyone of these systems.

The logo aims to highlight National Emergency Response System’s helpline number 112. The logo is designed considering the wide range of people across the nation who will be helped by NERS. Thus, logo is clean, simple, significant. The triangle grabs attention, hands state that NERS is well equipped to take care of emergencies and the number can be easily recalled during such situations. Bell is also formed in the negative shape which is an alarming symbol.

My logo mainly depicts the emergency number. The grey bar with orange and green, with emergency services written with white suggests India's Tricolour Flag. I have made this logo keeping in mind that it is important for the helpline no. to be visible from far off distances.
