Department of Fisheries in collaboration with MyGov is hosting a "Dressing up your kid like a fisherboy or fishergirl" Competition, which can be a creative and enjoyable experience as it depicts its own unique goodness and positive attributes. Also, preserving and promoting these traditional and cultural aspects is crucial for maintaining the identity and resilience of fishing communities.
The objective of this initiative is to foster awareness and appreciation for the fisheries sector among children and families in an interactive and culturally resonant manner.
Submission guidelines
1. Participants are encouraged to dress their children in attire that authentically represents fisherboy or fishergirl from a specific region of India.
2. Eligibility - Children from Kindergarten to Class 5 / Children between the ages of 4 to 10 years are eligible to participate in the contest.
3. The costume should reflect traditional clothing, accessories, and tools used by fishermen, such as nets, baskets, or headgear.
4. The Participants should incorporate elements that represent the modern fishermen—who is tech-savvy, aware of government schemes, and uses digital tools in their daily work. This dual representation not only honours the legacy of fishing communities but also highlights the transformation of the sector through technology and policy support.
5. Awareness of key government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), PM Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY), and the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) should be creatively incorporated using props like mobile phones, printed cards, or handmade posters.
6. Submissions must include a clear high-resolution colour photograph showcasing the costume, concept and the background.
7. All entries must be original and respectful of cultural representation.
