During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

My suggestion for the Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat is in line with the above. The farmers or the producers should be given opportunity to sell their produce directly the consumers by organising some fair / market. Government should choose a village or small town. The Government should organise the event where in the producers/ farmers shall be facilitated by the State Government to travel to other state where facilities for selling the goods shall be created by Government.it wd be a win-win for all

I think the success of this project greatly depends on involving the citizens in the organizing force.I would like to make a suggestion with an example. If Haryana is connected to Tamil Nadu, a committee should be formed in Haryana, consisting mostly or entirely of capable Tamilians, who will run the committee effectively and are themselves an inherent part of Tamilian culture.Invitations and planned programs could be directly sent to local people using platforms like facebook by the committee.

connecting people with their interest(games, technology, etc) will solve much national issues . so that people find solutions for every job they do . our nation will have a bunch of simplified common ideas for every task (common things will reduce wastage and time). we get much matured people to discus with particular task. We can arrange events to gather them locally and nationally according to the need. we can achieve it by a smart phone app, live T.V.program ,radio, sms, single window website

This can be done through organizing carnival based culture rich events that to with participants from home state giving there understanding based performance about targeted state. Example Haryana organizing event based on Tamil Nadu. This will make participants to explore the targeted state culture and make the local viewers understand the same in that manner.

Not only the teachers from different states could be migrated on a short project basis to other states for different language learnings, the retired people from different government departments can be requested/paid to go on pilot basis to other states to teach students different languages they are aware of.

Thanks for initiating a wonderful process of getting States to partner with each other, as a means of getting to understand each other's heritage, be it in art, literature, archaeology, drama, cinema and other such commonly addressed areas. In addition, it would be beneficial if learnings from people's initiatives that make them self-sufficient, that have helped improve the environment, and social changes for the positive are shared too. #EKBharatShreshthaBharat, #RashtriyaEktaDivas, #MyGov
