During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

I would like to say at the moment that there should be compulsory to add word "Bharat" as prefix in the name of every citizen of India as there are more than hundreds of religions here. By doing this, at least everybody will come under same platform & spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. For example: 1 Ram Kumar = Bharat Ram Kumar, 2. Ahmed Khan = Bharat Ahmed Khan, 3. Gurdeep Singh = Bharat Gurdeep Singh, 4. Ajay Sinha = Bharat Ajay Sinha etc.

Pride in our motherland should be instilled from a young age. Defence of the country & security of the citizens should be paramount. All school students should receive basic NCC, NSS, Scout & Guide, Disaster response and leadership training. Those interested should be trained to serve further for atleast a short service commission in the armed forces and suitable educational benefits can be given to them by way of scholarships & exemptions. A new young, brave & united India is possible.

My Suggestions are as under : • The Religion of Nationality should be : Bharat Dharma & everyone have to believe & faith in Bharat Dharma irrespective of their Religion, Region & Caste. • The Central as well as State Govt. may remove the column of cast & religion in admissions, jobs application form etc The Government should start the concept of Ideal Indian Family (IIF). • Beyond the concept of BPL, Govt should also introduce a new concept of Ideal India

Sir, children are generally open minded and unbiased. With increasing internal migration & cross cultural marriages it is easier to influence the young minds to be more accepting & to celebrate our differences. All schools should be advised to have co- and extra curricular activities which involve learning languages and the music & dance forms of other Indian states. This will help them in understanding our rich cultural heritage. Online language courses by recognised portals will be useful.

My Idea seeks co-operation of State and central government to make it a people centric movement. It also seeks use of social media and digital media to help the message to get propagated among common masses. I have had emphasis on cultural exchange as well as passing best practices of one state into another in this way one good idea started in a corner of India can be implemented all over India.

How to retain the best relationship within our states. 1. Let the people of different feel that We are all Indians and all states form part of this country, to do this, our Country needs political will. a. Have only Two political parties in India i.e. Ruling or opposition so that there is no division because of vote banking between caste, state, language and religion in the states of India. b.Let all Indians feel that all the states belong to all Indians, culture, employment, biz

Sir, the easiest path to making acquaintances is "through the stomach". Food brings us all together, idli & dosa, Mutter Paneer, Rasgolla & Dhokla now have a pan Indian identity. Learning languages or dance forms take time & consistent effort, not so cooking. Eye catching handicrafts & clothing are also much favoured & easily identified. Organising inter state food festivals, competitions along with handicraft expositions & training programs will go a long way in cultural integration.
