Govt. of India has approved 'Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan' (PMGDISHA). The main objective of the programme is to make Six Crore persons in rural areas, across States/UTs, digitally literate, reaching to around 40% of rural households by covering one member from every eligible household.
The proposal seeks inputs to design a Logo and Slogan under the Scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan’. The last date of submission is 29th May, 2017. The winning entry will be awarded with a prize equivalent to Rs. 50,000/- for Logo and Rs. 50,000/- for Slogan. Top three short listed entries will also receive certificates.
Background of PMGDISHA:
“Digital Literacy is the ability of individuals and communities to understand and use digital technologies for meaningful actions within life situations”.
Making one person in every household digitally literate is one of the integral components of the Prime Minister Vision of “Digital India”. The PMGDISHA scheme envisage to provide digital literacy training to Six Crore persons in rural areas, across State/ UT of the country. The Scheme is being implemented in each State/ UT. Also, to ensure equitable geographical reach, each of the 2,50,000 Gram Panchayats would be expected to register an average of 200-300 candidates.
Special focus would be on training the beneficiaries on use of Electronic Payment System. The outcome measurement criteria would include undertaking at least 5 electronic payments transactions by each beneficiary using UPI (including BHIM app) and USSD.
Universities/Colleges would be engaged for carrying out Social Audit of the scheme through their students.
The digital literacy training of beneficiary would enable them to:
• Operate computers/digital access devices (like tablets, smart phones, etc.),
• Send and receive emails, browse internet, access Government Services,
• Search for information
• Undertake cashless transactions using mobiles
Outcome of the Scheme: The Scheme would empower the citizens from rural India in:
• Bridging the digital divide leading to digital inclusion
• Providing digital skills
• Preparing them to become a part of digital economy

The logo has been developed with the objective and target audience of the PMGDISHA. It can easily be adapted for any media also.
The logo here represents PMGDISHA in it’s true sense at the 1st glance. A girl educating her father sitting in front of a computer. She is actually teaching him so he will be digitally literate. The girl represents many other things indirectly but here, as our young PMGDISHA representative. Who is helping the elder in every house hold of Indian. Especially in rural India. And here the punch line also boost the main core objective of the programme by saying, “हर घर-डिजीटल साक्षर!”
