Suggest smart solutions for solving traffic problems. The solutions may include but not limited to use of innovative digital technologies, administrative and architectural solutions and design of workflows which may be used for solving the problems mentioned in the contest.

All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.

Questions

1. Suggest one smart solution and/or innovative technology for conveniently dealing with traffic congestion outside your home.

2. One motorcar carries 4 people comfortably; one public bus carries 40 people comfortably. How can a smart city balance the needs of the car and the bus?

3. How can travelling by bus in your city become safer and more comfortable with the use of innovative technologies and smart solutions?

Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.

Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)

Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize

The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot

• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

answer second-
The government should introduced a road pricing system for the city area. Private cars and taxis (other than car pools of one driver and three passengers) had to pay a fee to enter the city area during the morning peak period of 7.30am – 10.15 am. and evening peak period 6.30pm-7.30pm. and increase the taxes for buying the car.
And reduce the no. buses by double decker buses.Turn vision of people for bicycle or non mortise vehicle.

Every bus route no. and timing should be available in mobile app for that city and
bus should also in build with GPS technology for easily tracking.

Urban public transport remains a challenge because it requires not just state-of-the-art buses, but also state-of the-art roads designed for public transport. This means creating central lanes for buses, stops for level boarding, passenger information systems, and making streets safe for pedestrians (because every public transport user is a pedestrian at the beginning and end of the journey).

Ans 2 Contd- iii)Car pools should be encouraged by Corporates and companies. Moreover smart cities will be Wi-Fi connected. That source we can use to convey information regarding availability of bus on the routes by chart / map demonstration designed with the help of software.

Answer3- HIGH CAPACITY BUS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM-
A Bus Rapid Transit system generally is comprised of dedicated bus lanes and stations where passengers can prepay the bus fare. These innovations speed the buses by setting them apart from any traffic congestion and ensuring quick entry and exit of passengers.

2) Roads for Cars to Streets for People such like in Mexico city. Made road in a two separate lane for motorcar and bus separately.

Ans.to Q.3 - Public transport should be fitted with GPS that sends signal to network admin about live traffic updates for streamlining red lights. Bus entry gates should be fitted with web- cams

Answer2- The ratio should be 1:4 between Car and Bus. There should be 4 Bus and 1 Car in a smart city.

Ans.to Q2 - A Bus carries 40 different people to the same destination and a Car carries 4 people from similar background to possibly many different destinations. If we need more balance of Bus and cars and encourage citizens to prefer public transport we will need to i) Improve the Bus interiors / infrastructure. ii) The routes of the buses should be preempted by surveys and the timings should be such that they match public requirements. iii)Car pools should be encouraged by Corporates and comp
