Background Information
2.1. Programme Brief
Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), a centrally sponsored health insurance scheme was being implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) since April 2008. The scheme provides coverage upto Rs. 30,000/- per year to enrolled unorganised workers and their family members. The scheme is implemented through insurance companies at present. The Central Government and the State Governments bear the cost of insurance premium. Cashless health services are provided to the beneficiary families at empanelled hospitals. The details of the scheme may be seen at rsby.gov.in.
2.2. Current Status
The scheme is presently being implemented in 19 States/ Union Territories. This scheme has been transferred from Ministry of Labour and Employment to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) with effect from 01.4.2015. The MoHFW intends to restructure the scheme and undertake some implementation and institutional changes.
The “restructured scheme” would cover unorganised workers identified by Ministry of Labour & Employment and it would be implemented through government trusts/societies at State level.
The task seeks inputs to suggest a Name and design a Logo for the ‘Restructured RSBY’.
The last date of submission is 8th May, 2015.
The winning entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 for logo and Rs. 25,000 for suggesting name for the programme if the same are accepted by Government of India.
