Government of India has been implementing crop insurance schemes since 1985 to provide insurance coverage and financial support to farmers including small and marginal farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crop as a result of non-preventable natural calamities, pests & diseases, adverse weather conditions and to stabilize farm income particularly in disaster years. Presently “National Crop Insurance Program (NCIP)” with three components viz., Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS), Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) and Coconut Palm Insurance Scheme (CPIS) along with National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) is being implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare along the length and breadth of this country.

After review of these schemes, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is in the process of formulating a new crop insurance scheme.

In this context, suggestions for a new name are invited for the proposed new crop insurance scheme.

The last date of submission is 23rd September, 2015.

The following are the conditions for the entries:

1. The name should reflect the objective, that is, a new crop insurance scheme for the benefit of the farmer community

2. Entries should be in Hindi or English

Crop Resilient Insurance. When a farmers use newly improved variety/Hybrid give him different benefits and when he not use give him different benefits.
Indian Agricultural Extension has failed to do lab to land i.e transfer of technology. Still we are doing Top to Down approach, there is no Down to Top Approach.
