Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

there should be a website, toll free number, mobile app through which everyone can file their complaint on various issues on/off the train, station and reservation counter. we see there are more number of passengers with waiting tickets than passengers with confirm ticket and they had to travel by managing in the train. there should be a system of adding extra bogies to accommodate all passengers inside the train. in many trains you cannot dare to go for nature call as due to lots of passengers.

the big issue in indian railways is quality of food, pantry car area is extremely bad in shape, i suppose never cleaned up and is in extremely unhygenic condition. design the pantry car (2-3 bogies) like a five star kitchen with all facilities and handover the kitchen to famous food chains or famous hoteliers through bidding on specific routes or specific trains. keeping in mind the socialistic view rather than completely business motive and both shall go hand in hand.

Why not use the hooter warning system at unmanned crossing? You can link the hooter system with your track indication system which you already have.

That can't be stopped until the technology is used. we should make the sensor crossing at every crossing and , that cannot be successful until the citizens of India are aware of it

Why can't we have an automated system in which, when train is 1km away from a level cross, signal lamps(which should be kept for road user crossing level cross) turns to red. This will help the drivers to know whether train is approaching or not.

I think all the tracks on which Rajdhani passes through should be well maintained & doubling the tracks. Specially New Alipurduar to New Jalpaiguri, It is one of the busy & vital zone. It is the only route(except Alipurduar jn to Siliguri jn) that connect whole NFR zone with rest of India by railway network. Various prestigious trains like Rajdhani, AC premium, Garibrath etc. are passed through this track. Please note at this.

First and foremost Railways should introduce dustbins in every compartment every train & also make provision to empty this dustbin. It will be biggest initiative under Clean India.
