How do you think we can further change our outlook and attitude towards the specially-abled? What efforts do we need to take in bringing them to the mainstream?

In regards to people with disability or differently ability, there should be special law or policy such as: All the public facilities should be disability friendly like rails along the walls, ramps, accord parking next to building, big fines for misusing the parking, discount in public transport fares. If government starts from themselves then all other private companies/ facilities will be forced to do that.

People often get challan from police for breaking traffic rules. they pay the challan amount. Paying the amount is easy. My suggestion is push the people to do social work instead of paying the challan. The traffic inspector should: 1. seize the vehicle papers of the defaulters, 2. set a date/time for any social work.(There can be a list of social work, where the defaulter can choose which one he is comfortable). 3.The defaulter will do the social work, get receipt, collect his papers.

We in Trivandrum has formed a group of resource persons to start a Differentially abled village to foster their development, sustainability, self help, and group help forums. We have land, promoters, and resource persons, but need a lot of inputs from like minded people to join us in its micro-management issues. Pls rope in with real involvement. For old people ,it is very difficult to cross the traffic. So a machine can be prepared which can be similar to railway gate which will be opened and closed for some time. This machine will be very similar to lift on which a person has to ride upon. once a person is on that machine, say road-crosser machine , person will be taken to other side of road automatically.

seeing the success of Jan dhan and the insurance schemes, it is clear - if the Ministries concerned tell their constituents (Like MOF tells Banks/insurance cos, Public sector enterprises thru a circular to have RAMPS for physically challenged at entry point and for atleast one toilet, then it will become a national obsession soon.

Sir, 1.There is a provision for providing RAMPS in all the schools for specially abled children, but all schools are running without having RAMPS for those children. The matter be immediately addressed through HRD Ministry and a close monitoring be done by the PMO on its implementation because the HRD Ministry is very slow in implementing schemes meant for specially abled children in schools.

the definition of disability is to be changed the type of disabilates what we see as doctors particularly as orthopaedic surgeon the causes are now different now a days what we see in 19 70 80 earlier they were du to poli, cerebrapalsy& congenital anamolies now there is no polio &cerebralpalsies therfore approach toward disablity is to be changed the stress should be more in prevention nowadays maximum disablities are due to trauma which can be reduced by proper trauma management & rehabilition

Special buses for differently abled people, will reduce pressure and stress for these people, provided the buses are well-equipped with friendly, cordial staff to help them .

bus conductors should realise they are doing important community service . If they themselves ahave low self esteems and poor self image, how on earth , will they have the ability and skill to handle their jobs well?? if the weather is bothering them, let there be special counselling sessions for grooming and effective personality development for all bus drivers and conductors made compulsory . This laid -back attutude - hota hai, chalta hai sia total disgrace .
