India faces many natural hazards, including floods, cyclones, drought etc. But every hazard need not turn into a disaster. By careful planning, capacity building, early warning, ...
All flood affected villages must be provided with apartments at concessional rates.during flood or tsunami, people can get safe accommodation in appartments.
Disaster due to flood can be averted by River Linking. Surplus flood water can be diverted to deficit states or places. We find severe flood in Odisha at a time when Rajsthan or MP are declared draught affected states.Disaster of flood or draught can be averted in one go.
Disaster homes must be built in each village. All schools should be built as per disaster home plan.People will be accommodated in schools during disaster like floods and cyclone or sunami.
Small things : i heard that in cyclone-prone areas, growing certain types of trees along the coastline reduces the impact of cyclones & heavy winds. The below is just one example, but there could be more with varied uses http://www-public.jcu.edu.au/discovernature/choosingplants/JCUPRD1_072495
there are good number working as consultant in private sector are vast experience in the fied having vast experience govt agencies are expected to seek the help of such consultants to provide the basic traning in the this field at least the can provide basic knowledge to the local community.
proper water management and water utilization pattern should be made national wide for unused land and where there is less irrigational sources.
Security alert checks be there in every state and some local people be appointed and paid to keep the local bodies aware if there is ocurring any disaster.
In my view first of all our border should be mechanised and automated weapons be used for vigilance, more security be there at major railway station as entries should be restricted to 3 or four gates and 24 hrs vigilance on these gates.Farmers and poors be freely insured for life, health and land and also easy loans be provided to them as many farmers had no other sources of income to give the land on barter also.other permanent souces of income be provided by govt to them.
