“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

In my view the fuel consumption for trucks is more due to bad roads apart from National highways. Reason being multiple axles on trucks with four tyres per axle. Developed countries have four tyres on traction axles only and two for other axles.
The interior roads, state highways get damaged due to inside tyres on each axle specifically on sharp turns the wear on the inside tyres are more. With bad roads fuel economy is bad. This needs deep investigation to make changes in new vehicles to save

Lots of fuel is wasted in toll plaza. If the toll plazas are removed the government will save lots of fuel and foreign exchange. Govt. Can pay the road contractor and recoup the same by some taxes..

There should be more schemes and tax benefits for having Rainwater harvesting and Solar energy in our home.
More awareness, ease in getting these done and some tax benefits ( to motivate people )

To meet part of own power requirement , all establishments like government complexes, corporate offices, molls, and similar large structures, must be asked for in situ harvesting of renewable energy sources like wind and solar ( or hybrid combo) as all of are also big consumers of power. The Policy should be ‘generate and consume yourself’ They can save on taxes they pay SEBs. Part power requirement can be a from the grid.

We have a long coast line the sea wave energy could be extracted for electrcity. There are several models developed on YouTube.we should be able to build it cheaper with know- how from other countries. We can fabricate using fiberglass, carbon fiber, stainless steel to withstand corrosion .By buiding cheaper may b e cost effective and subsidized by govt as energy is free and pollution free. We're making good progress in solar and wind energy. This could be another alternative to our energy requirement

If we look practically ,there is no proper water mangement techniques in villages, I have seen in many villages ,once the storage tank get filled ,water keep on overflowing untill power cut off , no body is going to switch off the motor including the person who are specially appointed for water management purpose,, its a common tendency in villages , if we use technology effectively , we can avoid the wastage of efficiently ,,for eg ,level transmitters in tanks to turn off motor automatically

Installing LED bulbs will saves the energy but when it comes to dispose ,its very poisonous ,and will make adverse effect on environment ,we should also take care of that ,

Conservation of energy is one of the key topics that is needed to take care. We can conserve energy by using led street lights instead of cfl light plus installing solar power plants on street lights as they automatically store energy through solar energy and storing its day-day need electricity consumption. Also by promoting companies like tesla which manufacture automobiles that run on electricity. We can also charge less tax on energy efficient appliances(led) as to increase the usage.

Conservation and saving is one point to look at , but at the same time with the amount of digitalisation and targeting uninterrupted power to all we need to produce more. Each house owner should be forced to generate at least solar electricity for his day to day consumption/ generation based on their capacity. Also water should be centrally tapped and distributed by government with metering, instead of depleting the water levels by people based on their needs.
