“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous ...
In my previous suggestion had mentioned about smart electrical meter with remotely fitted display for homes.Alternatively a small gadget simple similar to a power stabilizer with one input plug and out put socket.Consumer can plug in to check up the units consumed in terms of rupees for a particular gadget to save or replace with energy efficient gadget. The meter should be compact, rugged, cheap ,mass produced ,simple hassle free, safe. Consumer will be energy conscious and nation will save fuel.
Every home should have smart electrical and water meter which should be cost effective and remote display away from the meter fitted inside the house .simple logic for displaying day to day water/electrical consumption in terms of rupees.Show previous month consumption. The consumer will get a feel of what's going on . should be simple anyone could read.suppose there's a defective gadget like old fridge,AC,pump, heater or leakage in the system can be noticed and replaced. Thus Energy can be saved.
Make it mandatory to use cement / concrete door frames at home, concrete shelfs, non wooden Windows, water saving taps, solid / good quality plastic doors in toilets and bathrooms
Straight toward the solutions
1. Promotion of home automation using solar technology which have the capability to end our dependency on conventional source of energy.
2. Human values effect human character, the children imbibe the qualities and habits of their parents into them.Parents must teach their kids energy savvy ethics. Also parents must follow energy saving practices in their home so that their kids inherit the same into them.
One of the best ways to save energy is by rewarding the users for efficient usage and marketing it right. See an example below.
Suppose the cost of electricity is Rs 5 per unit & you feel an average efficient user uses upto 200 units. Then the pricing should be such that, users will be charged Rs 2 per unit if they use upto 200 units but if they use more than 200 units then their entire bill will be charged at Rs 6 or 7!
This will benefit the poor and encourage others to be more efficient!
India should have least forest fires. For us to maintain ecological balance based on the population and no of vehicles, industries .proper planning for providing safety gaps by cutting trees, grass in the forest to avoid fire spreading it takes years to grow trees. The required forest clearences should be given on priority.Mechanized tree cutting ,grass cutting every year with the help of Army, helicopters to reach inaccessible terrain.Initially could be done on trial basis.
Like we keep fast once a fortnight (On Ekadashi or fullmoon day), we should use minimum electricity, petrol, diesel etc. once a fortnight. Fast cleanses our body and gives rest to stomuch. This energy fasting will give rest to environment. Religious leaders and saints should link energy fast with heaven-achievement, good deed and God's favour-giving task etc. So, mass of people follow this without any question.
Like education cess, there should be small tax on electricity bill to collect money to replace all bulb on main streets/public places with LED. LED bulb lasts long, gives more light and consumes less electricity. Similarly, water recharging should be taken up on big scale. Maximum rain water should be stored underground through recharge well, ponds, lakes etc. This will elevate ground water level and borewell motors will consume less energy.
There is a need of keeping the step to avoid leakage of water supply and The emmission test of vehicle must be strictly implimented by the concern authorities.
We are here discussing the Energy Conservation through Efficient Lifestyle and in my city the local department doesn't even bother to switch off the road lights during the day time!!! Every time I see the road lights switched ON i just loose every hope that one day India can be energy efficient...
