Roughly 1% of GDP is spent on higher education as against a target of 1.5%. In the recent years, the state share of expenditure on education has declined as compared to an increase in Central expenditure on education. How can we address the financial resource constraints in higher education?

How the system of education can be improved. By technology, as it is relevant today create couses approved by the govt thro e-learning or virtual learning with minimum fee to students.Any facilities needed as practicals outsource to the registered recognised centres with international standards standards facility under PPP model for which students to bear a cost of using the faiclity under the government direct participation. Also ensure the Teachers are at par with the need of the hours.

Right to education should be to all citizens paripassu and the poor should not be deprived of this as the education nowadays becomes a business in the hands of unsurupulous scoundrels who are earstwhile liquor barons or into illegal activiites poses to be big industiralists and educationalists at last before the eyes of the public to cheat the system. This can be abolished only by proper bold system of education totally revamped by MODIJI only. As the rest politicians are all self centred.

As 1% or 1.5% is spend on education, this must be returned back to govt after getting the job.An online system can track this expense, where any category Open or SC/ST/OBC get financial aid - but it have to be returned back after x years of completion of education else degree will be revoked. This is make sure the students understands the amount of money spend by govt. and money can be resued for another set of students. In case the student leaves out of India then they have pay some y% of amount.

Certain areas of higher education should not be subsidised at all e.g. engineering, medicine or management. If someone gets heavily subsidised higher education & is employed in a high paying job outside India then that is not only a brain drain but also financial drain for us. It can be argued that people who go outside are a source of remittances but does India really want to become a remittance economy or develop its own economy?

Government is cross subsidising the Education System. The Institutes should show the real fees which are as per the cost of giving/providing the Education in the institute and the Subsidy for the Education should be Merit and Weaker Section Based. The Persons who do not come under either Merit and also have the means and ways to pay should pay for the Education. But the Interest Rates for all Education Loans should be only 7.25% Max.

The present situation for education loan is more office work and the interest rate is nearly 13% - 14% (for all Nationalized Banks) where as the car loan is at 9% (SBI) . this creates the less importance towards the education. If the RBI deceases the rate of interest for Eduction .It will definitely help the needy students.

Loan approval process need to to be more easy for student from village. Normally bank ask for previous year IT return file. For student from agricultural background, their parent normally don't have these document and they create problem in sanctioning the loan

I am personally having education abroad and have taken education loan to accomplish my aim of higher studies. I found the interest rates on education loan are really high. I feel if we have to encourage the higher education then we have to think on this topic as well. Now, I have to cover my debts so, even if I would like to work for India I couldn't :( at least for first few years.
