Roughly 1% of GDP is spent on higher education as against a target of 1.5%. In the recent years, the state share of expenditure on education has declined as compared to an increase in Central expenditure on education. How can we address the financial resource constraints in higher education?

Respected Sir, Ppl say India's future is the hands of present youth. But being a youth I personally don't think so. Indian youth are detained of many opportunities and are knocked into a future that is more dark even for dark. Best example is "Educational loan". We are having tremendous talent. But what we don't have is monetary resources & its not out fault. But when we approach gov. aided banks, we're treated like a beggar and all possible humiliations are done. Plz do something about it sir.

Application/sanction of Education loan can be linked to Jan Dhan Yojna scheme for poor who really need it. How do they pay interest? What security can they provide? This will need some subsidy for poor families or interest back ending. Rates should be atleast same as housing loan (security remains an issue though)

Today the interest on car loan is much lower than the education loan. The Education Loans should be provided to all needy students for higher education. The interest rate should be variable and inversely proportional to their grades obtained in their class. it means higher the grade obtained , lower the interest rate. ( There will be max & min limit of Interest rate) . This will encourage the students to maintain their grade.

Education should be the right of every Indian citizen in India. Education by government should not be charged. The cost incurred should be met by levying educational tax and not educational cess. Levy a 5% mandatory tax on any income earned by anyone/any organization on any mode of investments / returns in India. No tax ceiling should be applied for charging this tax. Never use this mode for payment of educational fee to private institutions, since they are supposed to take care of themselves.
