Roughly 1% of GDP is spent on higher education as against a target of 1.5%. In the recent years, the state share of expenditure on education has declined as compared to an increase in Central expenditure on education. How can we address the financial resource constraints in higher education?

Ways to make UG free: For establishment of UG colleges, govt can use CSR money. All contributions by alumni of college to upgrade facilities can be made tax-free(over and above the 80C limit.) For this, a college trust can be set up, with Central/State/local govt as contributor of last resort. To attract good faculty, give full tax-exemption on Basic Pay(+AGP).

As far as higher edu. is concerned, we need to look at it in 3 levels: UG, PG and PhD. First on UG: In countries like Belgium, students barely pay any fees. Such a scheme, though desirable, may not be practical at the moment. First step: get more govt colleges in every district. Colleges to be built knowing the student ratios in a scientific manner. All govt colleges to take no fees up front, with rider that all employed alumni will part-sponsor the fees of students for say 10 yrs.

Human life is valueless without the light of education. But today most of the parents are not able to provide higher education to their children. This is because almost all private schools charge very high fee and middle-class people could not afford it. So I would like to request the government to either provide subsidy for students or education loans at minimum rate.

The government should finance higher education, only for those student, who would agree to serve the Government Organisation for minimum 15 years. No subsidy for students who declines to serve the nation

Financing highr education is cost intensive, agree. Only those who are enriched with knowledge, is benefitted. However, it should be like this.... (a) "allocation of govt.aid should be blockwise/wardwise/" (b) Should be spread evenly, length & breadth of the country. (c) ofcourse, correction in the above is possible, for eg. In Mumbai, more aid should be allotted for each block, so that higher educaton should not be only to those who are informed. (d) just to maintain equlibrium

lot of people do graduation just for degree. e.g want to become graduate for VISA, Immigration check exemption for passport, applying for license etc., public sector jobs, IAS exam. Please eliminate these guys wasting precious resource. form a mechanism for open education or distance education and complete graduation instead of wasting college seat

1.Education is basic necessary thing to everybody. So it should be given to all free of cost then only there will be equality to everybody. 2.All the education institutes should be nationalized or aided such that the Government must have holding in them.3.In higher education, the required branch of study to be analyzed time to time and they to be introduced in the institutes by the government itself by consulting industries/experts.4.The expenses may be collected as tax/donation from the publ

it's a matter of surprise that our Govt. doesn't encourage people to likely study in the universities which has been ranked among top 5 or so in the world. The Indian curriculum hardly makes an application so much stronger to enrol in universities like OXFORD, OR CAMBRIDGE. However if someone though follows some other international curriculum and is able to get enrolled, it stands as the moral responsibility of the govt. to provide 100% scholarships at UNDERGRADUATE level as well (for arts& sc

Well, the govt must promote humanities as well as arts on all levels of the education system. It's a fact that India doesn't have universities which provide so good education as compared to universities like the Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, etc which hold world reputation. It stands as a moral responsibility of the govt to introduce certain 100% scholarships for undergraduates who have somehow managed to secure a place in the mentioned universities. And that too for humanities and science as well
