A large number of tribal people and other forest dwellers derive their source of livelihood from the collection and marketing of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) which provides them essential food, nutritional, medicinal needs and cash income also. As the business of MFP is different from the traditional ones, it denies due benefits. While government supported Corporations and Federations trade in some MFPs, a large number of these are traded freely in the market which is also not very helpful to the gatherers as MFP production is highly dispersed spatially and because of the poor accessibility of these areas, a competitive market does not exist. As a strategic interventions to ensure fair returns for the MFPs to the gatherers/collectors, the Government has come up with a new scheme of Mechanism for Marketing of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) through Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Development of Value Chain for MFP.

Through the MyGov Platform, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, seeks suggestions/information from all section of the society regarding innovative ideas for value addition to the MFPs, processing and marketing of MFPs, traditional skill and skill development, etc.

country needs dustbins which are low cost, environmentally friendly and no one dare to steal- our North east produces bembu and good craft to make tokarees, why cant we install ethnic bembu dustbins purchased from NE states. i have ready model for the mutually beneficial system, but no government official is interested hearing that, requesting attention, so that clean india and tribal welfare does not seem a gimmik of government- neeta 9313195247

Thus they have been saving a large amount of money by defrauding the government of its rightful income and custom duties.
This is evident by large amount of difference between the low import cost of superior quality of gum and high export cost of even the most inferior quality of gum which can be clearly verified from the import export data tables which can be found in links above.
