The stage 2 of the Smart City competition is very crucial as each city’s Smart City Proposal (SCP) is supposed to contain the model chosen, whether retrofitting or redevelopment or greenfield development or a mix thereof, and additionally include Pan-City dimension with Smart Solutions. The Smart City Proposal (SCP) will also outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders. Also, a vision for the Smart City has to be prepared, and this vision should emerge from the needs, aspirations and wishes of the local people to make their city offering more to live better life.

The biggest driver of the Smart City is the smart citizen. Citizen involvement in Smart Cities is elevated. So, the Smart City Proposal will be Citizen Centric, designated after consultations with residents of the city and through active participation of various groups such as Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), Tax Payers Associations (TPAs), Senior Citizens and Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs).

During consultations, various issues such as areas of utmost concern, needs and priorities of citizens and different groups/associations will be identified and people centric solutions will be evolved.

Chandigarh Administration hereby invites the citizens of Chandigarh to share their views on ‘How to make Chandigarh a Smart City’. The campaign aims to increase public participation in Chandigarh Administration’s effort to garner support for the city’s quest for a Smart City tag.

The residents of Chandigarh can also post, share their ideas, views and opinions on ‘Smart Chandigarh’- the official mobile app of U.T., Administration.

Implement digital literacy programmes specially for govt offices. Prefer Linux (specially BOSS Linux). Prefer Android. Reject iPads and Windows. Prefer FOSS. Expand training to police, traffic police, hospitals, basically all govt. staff. Indian Parliament made big error in commissioning iPads instead of Android tabs.

Trial can be made to allow only odd number cars on three days of week (say Monday ,Wednesday and Friday) and even number cars on other three working days. This might promote car pooling and public transport (if public transport can be made more efficient before the trial)

Today at carnival the traffic police was directing the people to park there vehicles opposite petrol pump sector 10. The space was for only one car to go. Police had No parking plan. The exit route was also the same . Which resulted in vehicles colliding and jam. In such situations the police should be trained to make parking plan with entry and exit routes. senior IPS officers should see and approve the parking plans for such functions and it should be mandatory to approve such pland.

In smart city, government can issue a smart card with either with prepaid or bank linked credit card which have multi-purpose use like parking payment, public transport or any kind of fees which levied in Govt. departments. this will promote plastic money and reduce to carry cash. rest if possible people can use this cards in day to day life example to purchase vegetable or shopping. Banks are ready to invest heavy amount in ATM but they charge 1.5% for card machine from shopkeeper.

I think about 70 to 75 percent of private cars, coming to Chandigarh daily from Panchkula and Mohali have one occupant only (self driven with no passenger). So, if such daily commuters offer their services, and the administration, after due verification, issues a distinctive badge to such vehicles, desirous people can avail this free transportation facility / service without any fear. This will benefit the city and its population in many ways. Smart idea for smart city. --- Shah.

Hello Administration should take a strict measure of checking the Govt. School students in Chandigarh as they are becoming criminals day by day. Their uniform their hairstyle doesn't make look like a school student. every child is coming for modelling in school. Parents should be called to school if their children is not in the dress code and other school rules and regulations. Govt. schools are the main feature of chandigarh

Hello I am resident of Chandigarh since last 50 years and I feel that the small playgrounds built up in the residential areas should be put under ban for doing some public/personal functions (like marriages, religious, etc.) These playgrounds are for residents to have relax and their children can play in these playgrounds. when ever there is any function in the such grounds the surrounding residents are disturbed at very high level by noise, dirt, traffic, etc.
