In order to design an interoperable ecosystem of data, applications and processes, there is a need to formulate a policy for the Government Organizations to provide Open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The “Policy on Open APIs for Government of India” has been drafted to encourage formal use of Open APIs in Government Organizations. This policy sets out the Government’s approach on the use of “Open APIs” to promote software interoperability for all e-Governance applications & systems and provide access to data & services for promoting participation of citizens and other stakeholders.

You are requested to provide your inputs on the policy and suggest implementation approach across the government.

To read the abstract of Open API Policy please refer the following URL: https://static.mygov.in/static/s3fs-public/Draft_Policy%20on%20Open%20AP...

Hi Sir, we are pleased to have a decisive PM whose energies are channelled in the right direction. Respect your national initiatives, and in addition, we need to energize the existing ones as well. to list, 1. MPs fund usage - should be listed on this portal. 2. You are functioning alike the CEO of the country, but the vision is yet to be seen cascading across the MPs. We would love to see the energies cascaded to your team

Dear Sir, Why cant the government start displaying the progress on all the public service activities which our PM has started. Eg: How many Toilets built in schools, accounts opened so far as part of Jan Dhan etc. There are shall be a government portal which shows the correct number to the people rather than reading from the biased reporter statuses

OpenAPI implementation need to be done in Phases. Two major consideration when designing APIs are Security and Scalability. Very first primitive phase is to bring all read only data from government application online. None of the API calls will happen without authentication. The authentication could be as simple as identity of the system making calls to the APIs. Phase 1 could be limited to integrating just 1 system and prototype it with the beta users. Still lot to think.

For smart cities, govt should install photovoltaic (PV) solar structures called “solar trees” as well as arrays referred to as “solar groves” to generate electricity for specific areas, such as parking lots and parks. This can be done effectively through PPP model

ALL THE INITIATIVES ARE PRAISEWORTHY PROVIDED BE IMPLEMENTED IN TRUE SPIRIT. ALL THE SCHEMES WILL BE FRUITFUL ONLY WHEN THE BENEFICERIES ARE EDUCATED. UNLESS AND UNTIL AT LEAST ONE PERSON OF A RURAL FAMILY IS EDUCATED THE VISION THOUGH BENEVOLENT AND BONAFIDE CAN'T BENEFIT THE NEEDY. AWARENESS OF ANY SCHEME SHOULD NOT BE RESTRICTED TO ONLY METRO CITIES AND IN LEADING MEDIA RATHER IT SHOULD BE PROPAGATED THROUGH ALL POSSIBLE MEANS TO REMOTE PEOPLE ALONGWITH DETAILS.
