How can we stop the ‘brain drain’ wherein we are losing some of the brightest minds to other nations due to lack of suitable opportunities here? At the same time how do ...
it is really a big challenge ahead of this nation to stop some of the brightest minds to get drain to other foreign countries. The question arises here is not only related to either lack of opportunities or lack of suitable opportunities, the central question lying in this problem is the basic issues related to ethical approach by the governments whether state or Union in seriously handling the problems motivation, hygienes, transparency, good governance, social security.we need to work effectively.
One more example is one of my colleagues here in US said he was unsuccessful in India, but it was easy to be successful in US here. The basic life necessities are very easy like Govt. services, water, food, electricity, toilets, clean and green environment and best and cheap technology access. This gives me freedom to think and create best technology solutions for my company.
I don't know if my going to US is a brain drain, but one reason I left was because of culture in the PSU where I worked only cared about nepotism. There is no +ve culture for research and risk taking.
When we can't match the luxury offered in abroad, we should have realistic appraoch and look for other means to hold them:
1. create a value system - have a mandatory subject included in all professional courses that encourages students to pay back to our motherland. Sought historians who served well to the country.
2. Make it mandatory to serve first few years in country.
3. Make them feel involved and recongized for the research work they do, electronic media can also play big role.
Create smart cities that provides education till research level. Support should be rendered in terms of scholarships. Education should include the concept of a Nation. The need to contribute back. Open up institutions where more students from SAARC nations, G8 and similar groups send their students to study here. If Indian youngsters feel that people from west are coming down to study here, it would give them faith in our education system. Make our education system liberal.

Syllabus. This is actually the start of research. A specific research paper may be set in social for that child.
This will make children focus more on strength areas. Today focus of children in India is in correcting weakness which is a waste of time, energy for the child, the family, the school and Natio
Drastic change in educational methods is needed. We need people to focus more on their strength areas. Today children end up studying every subject equally even if they are weaker in one or two subjects. These must be pushed as secondary subjects. For example a student good at social and weak in math must be able to focus more on social. For eg a high mark criteria can be set for social and a lesser one for math. This will enable the child focus more on social and even read up info outside
Merit is to be recognized and encourage innovative practices for all types of works whether Administration, Manufacturing or any type what so ever. Persons like Mr.Raghurajan Present RBI governor etc should be brought back by giving proper opportunities. Even though Reservation may be needed for the downtrodden, it should be on the basis of economic position not purely on caste basis.ASll those through IIT .IIM .IISC., and medical courses should serve our country for a minimum period of3yr
An educational caution needs to be delivered to students travelling to the UK by the Indian government.
This does two things,
1) Student comes back home to use the skills learnt abroad.
2) Importantly the government and companies deal with visa issues that ensures that the foreign government doesn't abusively impose exorbitant student visa fees, taxes, etc. This is whats happening currently, many students (like me) are being asked to pay enormous money for visas and then being refused. Especially the UK government.
