As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

for next five year we need to have an agressive policy for modernisining farming sector we need to aware our farmer about cash crops and horticulture too. As for last 60 years nothing has been done for farming sector rather than subsidies. they dont need alms they just need a push into era of modern farming, we are way behind the world in farming sector. dependence upon rain is still too much. but for now there should be war like approach for upliftment of farmers.

In the same country for example in western UP, farming is highly mechanised, while in Eastern UP, farming is agrarian. So farmers from far flung villages should be free of cost exposed to latest methods, equipments etc. This can be also done online, wherein 5-6 farmers along with a technology expert connects with an entire village and tell them about what equipments, technology, chemicals etc they use. Soil and water condition study across the country should be done and villages should be paired

Ensure online land records in all places and fast track clearing of all land related disputes through involvement of judiciary. This will ensure more land is available for cultivation. Measurement kits for soil chemistry need to be distributed at nominal cost.

In farming in India most of the people are underutilised because we are probably the only country in the world where a majority of people are involved in farming. Our land parcels are very small for large scale tech to be implemented. So farmers should be trained in food processing also to use their resources better. Similarly they should be taught on proper storage conditions, investments required and returns expected.

Show and tell worldwide methods of better farming on media with clear idea of investments required, where to buy those equipments and how much production increase is possible through those equipments. It should not be limited to farming, but should also cover food harvesting, processing and transport. Also, very strong need to tackle corruption in FCI.

At present, we are transporting raw coal to power plants from Mines. Raw coal contains approx 50 % impurities (shell, stones) . If we put up a Coal Washery at Mine heads and transport only washed coal through railways, there will be huge saving in transported cost. Also Power plant will generate less fly & bottom ash, which are hazardous to environment. Railways will also will have less quantity to transport and hence less pressure on system.
It may please be thought over.
