A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. As, the indigenous availability of crude Oil and LPG is limited, these are imported in huge quantities to fulfill the demand of the country.  As Govt. provides domestic LPG and PDS Kerosene on subsidised price, this results in huge subsidy burden on Govt. Due to presence of dual pricing(subsidized and non-subsidized) in LPG and SKO, there is a diversion of subsidized LPG and Kerosene into commercial usage. Although Govt. has taken several initiatives to reduce this diversion of subsidized LPG and PDS Kerosene, public participation is solicited to suggest ways for reducing diversion in LPG and PDS Kerosene.

You are invited to suggest ideas to reduce diversion and the subsidy burden on account of LPG and Kerosene.

A separate enumeration on the holders of LPG cylinders both domestic and commercial should be undertaken. Dedicated people should be engaged on this task. The quantum of subsidy should also be reduced in small amount over a period of years to make the people ready to bear it. The Oil companies are also making enormous profits .If the loopholes are plugged the amount can be passed on to the cost factor of LPG cylinder. The motive of the Govt. should also be to improve the betterment of the public

subsidy should not life time award. Subsidy should be for 5 years or 10 years only. Every 5 years each subsidy holder should examine. Give them skilled development programme course. etc. etc. I am open for detail discussion.

To reduce diversion in LPG & Kerosene, it is suggested that consumer may be opted to pay the market rate at the Distributor/Dealer end. For the people Below Poverty Line (BPL), the subsidy amount may be directly credited to the individual's bank account. Further, effective review of Kerosene requirement for BPL personnel to be assessed to finalise the optimum requirement of the product. Accordingly the requirement to be modified.
