Start Date :

Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world ...
1.Smart Card ticket travel and Automated Seat allotment system or Vacant seats.
2.Solar Powered Electricity to run our trains.
3.Promotional Tourist trains to attract foreign travelers to take take train journeys enjoyable and add up the revenue to Indian Railways. Presently foreign Travelers prefer to travel by Flight.
4.ALL LED Lighting System at Railway stations.
Create very neat/clean paid lounges to freshen up at major stations where people travel for Business, so that they can attend to their work in the f'noon also. Hotels are not avlbl until 2:00 p.m. This acts as a detriment for people to avail overnight trains instead of flight. This is a common practice with the Airlines.
To make profit Reduce expanses.
1. Conserve Electricity. Rooftop of the platform and staff qtr for solar energy. Wind energy from passing train.
2. Conserve Water. Recycle and reuse of water used in Train & Platform. Platform and staff qtr occupy big area, hence rain water harvesting can be used.
3. Light weight compartment can be build to reduce fuel cost.
4. Adv in the wall of platform and train body.Rent out free space in platform, Walls of train and outer walls of platform.
ticket rate should go up as time and reservation go up only for crowded trains
I guess this forum was for suggestions involving ways for non-fare revenue increase. One simple way would be if those responsible do their duties sincerely. Often, while travelling in sleeper class, I have noticed, the TTE does not come to check the tickets, especially in crowded compartments (during holidays). Each compartment may have at least 4-5 unreserved passengers (at least 50 in one train). e.g. 100 trains in a day, means 5000. Fine amount itself could be earned in lakhs per day.
my submissions are enclosed
TT earns sometimes when the train is full.
During ticket booking, aadhar or passport number shall be asked.
An electronic sign of passengers along with thumb impression should be taken by TT (very easy). Whenever some seat remains unoccupied, TT shall inform that electronically so that new passenger is given the seat automatically by the system. Then the new passenger can sign and give a thumb impression. If required, on random check, thumb impression may be matched with Aadhar data.
#IndianRailways should have a small dustbin placed below the window of every seat..This will help in cleanliness of indian railways..also they must have a camera in every apartment of the rails so that if anyone throw anything in train premisses should be fined...

Allow only registered vendors to sale products/services in the train during travel and charge fees for issuing registration certificates. Compulsory pantry cars in all trains traveling more than 12 hours to reach destinations. Library facilities in trains on payment basis. Make 01 coach as mini mall in long journey trains.
