Post Office is an institution with biggest reach in rural india. Post Office huge network can be leveraged in following ways. For all surveys or collecting data or information such as population , elections data , information on social status post office manpower should be used as postman is the only person who is aware about the location of the houses, residents living and other details of the family members. It will save cost for the govt and ensure quality data capturing for any purpose.

A general suggestion for all govt depts like POs,banks etc. All of them should add facility of continuous service throughout the day which is mostly hampered during lunch time as all staff takes break. People have to wait for their work to get done. Time is very valuable ,Indians should think over it. Just needed to make few arrangements to provide continuous service by making shifts in lunch timings of few employees on alternate basis. Gov can even charge for such facilities to generate revenue

Postal Savings Bank is seldom used. If Government payments are routed through Post Office Bank then it will popularize the Post Office. All government payments should also be accepted by the Post Office which will enable citizens to pay even in those villages which dont have banks. Most Public Sector Banks are now listed and may also reduce government holdings so it is better that Post Office Bank becomes Government backed Bank.

The worst problem is that post office workers in the urban areas have no work to do. What they transport are only few bills and postcards to the people. 80% letters go by courier. So, people should be using POST also for communicating with their fellows. Moreover, postmen should be given some automobile like a post van for delivering the letters. For the funds, prices can be raised.

I have posted previously also but till date lower denominations stamps are not available in post offices. Normal post delivery is also not improved. I have send 80 days before 1 envelop to Trivendrum from Andheri but till date it is not delivered or not returned back to me !! First improve the existing systems and then go for new ones.

With its wide network of offices and post mans, post office can start a new service as "ADDRESS VERIFICATION" for business entities. Many corporate houses and phone companies need this service to make sure the address submitted by new employees and/or customer is correct. This will be a new source of revenue for post office. It can be based on acknowledgement, like register post. But this can also give rise to corruption. We need to pay attention to this to make it fool proof.

Recommended Action: The Post Office should accept self-attested bank statements from private sector banks (HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, etc.) as proof of address. The Head Post Office in T-Nagar, Chennai, refused to accept this, insisting that they will only accept bank passbooks from nationalized banks. Even the Income Tax Department accepts self-attested bank statements from private banks for change of address for PAN Cards. Then why not the Post Office?

The best way to give levered effects to Indian post is initiating or introducing online financial activities through post offices. It's a very big network and each & every people of the country could join to this financial system.
They could use post office online payment service for everything..for bill payments, payment of e-commerce purchases ect which are made through private these days.
Peoples can easily avail this service at their door step.
