Trust and Quality of service is the 2 factors on which mail services can proof their mettle. However if analyze the kind of reformation happened in Indian post office, its very minimal. So to leverage post office,we should focus on association with more companies for postal delivery, start offering different kind of facility (ex. Royal Mail),Improve quality of service,Increase wages of post office workers.Like private sector, post office worker should be appraised on the basis of monthly targets

Post offices,The name still exists but mainly the business being taken over by various couriers.Just becoz of the seevices, not doing the work properly, not delivering the consignments on time and actually not delivering them and throwing them anywhere ,On the other hand private couriers are delivering the consignments properly with receiving on time.so by adopting the policy of proof of Deliveries Post offices still get the top position by recruiting more capable people who are interested in work

Post and Telecom were once together. Telecom was expanding communication due to technological development when it was finally bifurcated. Telecom part was corporatised. However technological developments have again going through paradigm shift with new services like e-commerce etc, where the ICT is integrated with service and product delivery. However since big picture visualization of future has not been done, the system could not progress as has been it should have been done in rural areas.

1) Post office should tie up with online shopping website like Flipkart etc to deliver products to villagers. 2) It can also act like an extension of banks who tie up with them, on commission basis, similar to Western Union services providers. 3) It can also act like a authorized e-seva kendra of govt. online services at minimal fees. 4) It can also act like a tourist agent office, were tourist can book their tickets of rail, bus etc

Royal mail of UK is best example to turn around. Royal mail is very profitable now a days, thanks to the transformation , which happened years back. What I noticed about Royal mail is following 1. Lot many branches , but 95% of them are manned by not more than 2 people 2. The distribution and service are done by different divisions 3. Provide auxiliary services like vehicle tax, utility bills, insurance, etc It is time to rebrand our postal service as such.
