In order to make the Indian IT Industry move up the value chain and thereby sustain its growth trajectory, India has to adopt a paradigm shift in it’s strategy for software sector by focusing to create vibrant Indian Software Product Industry, where IT Products also contribute equitably and significantly along with IT Services. Though India is well positioned to further grow in services sector, however for holistic growth, there is a need for a National Policy on Software Products that can synergise the efforts of the Government and Industry to create a robust Software Product Industry, which enables the germinating ground for large number of Software product startups, promotes development of an ecosystem encouraging R&D and innovation, opens up multitude of opportunities of access to capital and helps build and improve the domestic demand. A National Policy on Software Products aligning with other initiatives such as Start-up India, Make in India and Digital India etc. can provide the springboard for India to emerge as a global leader in this important industry.

To drive the rise of India as a Software Product Nation and synergy with the ITeS sector, so as to place India as a leading player as creator, producer and supplier of innovative Software Products globally thereby enabling the IT Industry to sustain growth momentum, a Draft Policy is under consideration by this Ministry.

Ministry seeks suggestions and feedback from the public and other stakeholders on the draft before forming the policy.

The last date for sharing your inputs on the Draft National Policy on Software Products is December 9, 2016.

Couple of things which have been raising an alarm and will hopefully come to notice later as this policy show up some more effect. I am talking about - Equalization Levy & Service tax (Advertising) B2C. We all know that India is huge market, but along with that we also know we have competitive service providers with us in form of China, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Philippines etc. There are no such taxes in other countries and this will swift business demand since first choice may shift to them.

Vande Matram Modiji,
Raids by ED are a welcome step. An exhaustive data of total number of Rs. 500/1000 demonetized notes exchanged after Nov 8th, along with the identity of persons by whom exchanged, must be prepared, as some Black money has also got exchanged. Money exchangers have also widely black-marketed foreign currency, like $, etc. Money-exchanger-Hawala nexus, needs to be busted and black money laundered, needs to be recovered, along with necessary penal action.

Dear sir,
I agreed your thoughts to create cashless society in India, My suggestion here is to create safe and secure National wide online payment Web based application like (Patym, Bil desk, PayUmoney), under Government of India, Ministry of Finance control. With the help of SBI, Indian bank, other Public sector bank. These steps empower the youth and other citizens to do the online transaction. And create more employment under IT sector.

Any product development requires government and market support e.g. Skype, Hootsuite, etc etc... In India we lack great research institutes despite that people are trying to build world class product, but neither the government nor market suppport them. Government product procurement policy should have great emphasis on made in india. That is how these players will get a playground to develop world class product. Thats how China developed its product market
