The Draft Accessibility Standards for the Information & Communication Technology Sector are a crucial step towards digital inclusion. A key suggestion is to ensure full alignment with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the baseline, incorporating the latest updates for cognitive disabilities. It's vital that the standards mandate accessibility in all ICT procurement for public sector entities, setting a precedent for private industry. Furthermore, a dedicated glossary defining terms like "reasonable accommodation," "assistive technology," and "universal design" would enhance clarity. The framework should also promote research and development of affordable, accessible ICT solutions, and include robust mechanisms for continuous monitoring and enforcement.

The Draft Accessibility Standards for the Information & Communication Technology Sector are a crucial step towards digital inclusion. I invite comments and suggestions to ensure these standards are robust and comprehensive. Key areas for feedback include: * Clarity and Specificity: Are the guidelines clear, measurable, and easy to implement across diverse ICT products and services? * Technological Scope: Do they adequately address emerging technologies (AI, IoT, AR/VR) and not just current mainstream platforms? * User-Centricity: Do the standards genuinely reflect the diverse needs of all persons with disabilities, ensuring true usability? * Enforcement and Monitoring: What mechanisms can ensure effective implementation and compliance, including penalties for non-adherence? * Training and Awareness: How can widespread awareness and capacity building be promoted among developers and organizations? Your insights are vital to creating a truly barrier-free digital environment.
