Special standards are being developed to make products and services accessible to all users. The main objective is to ensure that persons with disabilities do not face any difficulty in using products. These standards include specific design and technical improvements in mobile applications, electronic devices, home appliances, etc., so that everyone can equally benefit from them. You are requested to share your thoughts, suggestions, and comments on this draft so that it can be made more practical and useful for everyone. This will increase inclusivity in the product sector and make technology accessible to all people.

Respected Prime Minister, I commend the government’s initiative to introduce draft accessibility standards for everyday products, a vital step toward realizing the vision of an inclusive India. Anchored in the globally recognized POUR principles—Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust—this framework is a milestone for persons with disabilities (PwDs). 1.Digital Accessibility & Smart Tech Integration Ensure that digital interfaces—like self-service kiosks, ATMs, and mobile apps—adhere to screen-reader compatibility, voice control, and tactile feedback standards 2. Public Awareness & Consumer Education Launch a nationwide campaign to educate consumers about accessible products, their benefits, and how to identify certified items. This will drive demand and normalize inclusive design.
